Enter through the foyer area and take the steps to level 1. Go through the doorway labeled “Project Base” then simply head to the back right corner of the space, where you’ll find a large wooden barn door. Welcome to The Fox Darkroom!


Please arrive 15 minutes to scheduled commencement time. If delayed or unable to attend please contact your host.


All day street parking is available on both Elizabeth St and Fink St. Make sure you check the signage. Alternatively our premises is a short walking distance of Kensington (Craigieburn line) or Macaulay (Upfield line) stations, both accessible in under 15 minutes from Flinders Street station.

How many people in a workshop?

Minimum of 2, maximum of 5.

What level of experience do I need to participate?

Workshops are designed for beginners right through to seasoned photographers looking to refresh old skills.

Can minors under 16 years of age join the workshop?

Minors (from 12-15 years) must be accompanied by an adult. Minors and adults are charged the same rates for attending the course. Course tutors have valid working with children cards.

Can my partner tag along with me for free?

No. In fairness to all customers, each participant must be a paying attendee.

Can I bring my own camera to the Film Photography & Developing Basics workshop?

We encourage our participants to use the fully manual film camera provided (Pentax K-1000). You can bring your own camera, however, a basic understanding of its function is required. We also recommend testing the camera before workshop commencement date to avoid disappointing outcomes.

Can I bring my own negatives to the Darkroom Printing Basics workshop?

Yes. We can work with either 35mm or 120mm black and white negatives.

Can I organise a workshop outside your normal hours of operation?

Yes! We encourage all enquiries big or small through our Contact page.

Can I do the Film Photography & Developing and Darkroom Printing Basics workshops on the same day?

We do not currently schedule two workshops on the same day. We do however recommend doing the two workshops within a relatively short time of each other – our regular program has them scheduled on consecutive weekends.

What to bring

Warm clothing, a rain jacket and comfortable walking shoes. Parts of the Film Photography & Developing Basics workshop take place outdoors. Depending on the season an umbrella is also recommended. All other materials and equipment needed for the course will be provided.
