Only a month has passed since we returned from our EPIC adventure with The Fox Darkroom and I have to say, it has been a bit of an adjustment. From waking up with the sun in the morning, downing a coffee, pulling on your boots, slinging your pack over your shoulder, camera in hand and heading out the door into the Swiss Alpine wilderness… To snoozing alarm clocks, rowdy neighbours and feeding famished cats before you’ve even had a chance to remember you’re back in your own bed, half the world away from where you’ve been dreaming of being since you set foot back on Melbourne soil. Between the friendships made and sights seen, from breathing in the crisp air of the mountains and shooting frame after frame, each one caressing the fear that this may all actually be a dream and you’re not doing yoga on a helipad outside your night’s refuge 2483m higher than sea level or standing so still that all you can hear is your own heartbeat in your ears whilst looking out over the never-ending mountainscape. You could say we enjoyed ourselves… You could also say it was a life changing, certainly at times back breaking, breath-taking experience too. The only negative I have to divulge is it simply wasn’t long enough! Before we sadly said goodbye and parted ways after returning to civilisation in the form of Courmayeur, after 5 days of hiking, sweating, laughing, cursing at inclines, sharing stories and creating memories, myself and others began planning our return to the Swiss Alps – to pick up where we left off and continue the journey back to Chamonix.
